7 injured in grenade attack in Pulwama

Militants on Sunday hurled a grenade at security forces in the Tral area of Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said, adding "7 civilians have been injured in the attack."

Pulwama: At least seven people were injured in a blast in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday.

According to the police, the attack took place at the Tral bus stand.

"At around 4:30 pm, unidentified militants hurled a grenade at security forces personnel of JK Police and CRPF posted at main bus stand Tral. However, they missed the target and none of the personnel received any injury, " a police officer said.

He further said, "unfortunately seven civilians have been injured in the attack. Two of them have been shifted to SMHS Srinagar while the rest with minor injuries are being treated at a local hospital. Health condition of all the injured is stable."

Meanwhile, police have launched a search operation in the area to nab the attackers.

The attack comes days after Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rakesh Pandita was shot dead by three unidentified militants on June 2 in the same area.
