Arnab Goswami files petition in Mumbai High Court against arrest

Journalist Arnab Goswami has filed a petition in the Bombay High Court against his arrest. His petition is set to be heard by Justices S.S. Shinde and M.S. Karnik.

Mumbai: The editor-in-chief of Republic TV - Arnab Goswami, who was arrested on Wednesday, has filed a petition in the Bombay High Court challenging his arrest. Justices S.S. Shinde and M.S. Karnik are set to hear the petition.

Goswami was arrested in Mumbai on November 4. He was presented late night at Alibag Court in Rayagada. There he was given 14 days of judicial custody.

Goswami was arrested for abetment to suicide in a 2018 case. In 2018, an architect and his mother committed suicide over alleged non-payment of dues by Goswami's Republic TV.

A host of BJP leaders have condemned the arrest. Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut also spoke in defense of Goswami.

On the other hand, the Congress Party slammed the BJP for showing "selective outrage" over the journalist's arrest.
