ABVP demands one year age relaxation in Army recruitment

If the government decides to take a step in the direction of the proposed appeal by the ABVP then it would turn into a huge opportunity for lakhs of aspiring candidates in the country.

New Delhi: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Monday wrote a letter addressing Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh demanding an age relaxation of one year in for the candidates who are seeking recruitment in the Indian Army.

The student body stated that normal life was badly hit due to Covid19 and that it impacted the Army recruitment process. Candidates from Covid containment zones missed their recruitment examinations and due to this many aspiring candidates lost their chance to serve the nation. Supporting its appeal, ABVP said that to do justice to the candidates, they should get one more attempt.

ABVP National Secretary Gajendra Tomar said that many candidates have fallen prey to the deadly infection and they could not appear in the examination owing to health problems. All these aspects should be considered and a second opportunity must be given to them, he added. ABVP National General Secretary Nidhi Tripathi said that keeping in mind the interest of the candidates, ABVP demands the Defense Minister to give one year of age relaxation in all the recruitment processes in the Indian Army.

Notably, Covid-19 has hugely impacted the conduct of many competitive exams across the country. The suspended and postponed competitive examinations have also affected individuals who have been preparing for the exams.
