5 criminals arrested after back-to-back encounters in UP

In an encounter that broke out between police and miscreants in three different places in UP's Chandauli, four criminals have been arrested. Meanwhile, in another encounter in Agra, a wanted criminal was apprehended. A policemen was also injured in the encounter.

Chandauli (Uttar Pradesh): Chandauli Police on Sunday swung into action and have arrested four miscreants responsible for having carried out encounters in three different police station areas in a single night. The four criminals and a policemen injured in the encounters have been admitted to the district hospital. As per reports, the encounter took place when the police were conducting a special drive to nab criminals. The bike-borne miscreants were later nabbed from various locations while they were trying to flee.

First encounter

The first encounter took place at Katsil Mode under Chandauli PS limits at around 12 AM on Sunday night, when the police had signalled two of the bike-borne miscreants to stop. It was then that one of the miscreants managed to flee and the other opened fire on the police team. In the retaliatory gunfire, the miscreant was shot on the leg, causing him to bleed profusely and he was immediately taken to the district hospital. The arrested miscreant has been identified as Piyush Singh Zamania of Ghazipur. There are several cases registered against him including extortion, robbery and attempt to murder. In 2018, the then Mughalsarai Kotwal Shivanand Mishra had arrested Piyush, in connection with an extortion case and had sent him to jail. Since then Piyush has been in hiding in Varanasi for a few years.

Second encounter

At around 2 AM, another encounter broke out between Sakaldiha Police and the Crime Branch with the miscreant who had initially managed to flee. During the gunfire, the second miscreant identified as Krishnanand Vishwakarma got shot in the left leg and he too was admitted to the district hospital. Several cases of robbery, attempt to murder were registered against Krishnanand, police said, adding that he has been accused of firing at the Launda outpost in-charge in 2018.

Third encounter

At 3 AM, the third encounter took place under Balua PS limits when two bike borne miscreants had opened fire against police personnel. The miscreants then attempted to evade the police pursuit by moving towards Dhanapur. Immediately, the Balua station incharge informed the Dhanapur police about the approaching miscreants. The Dhanapur police set up a check post at the Canal Bridge near Mathura, and intercepted the miscreants. In the ensuing gun fight, one of the miscreants was shot in the right leg, while the other was shot on the left leg. Constable Rupesh Kumar Dubey was also injured in the shoot out.

The miscreants have been identified as Arun Kumar alias Rudra Singh, a resident of Ramgarh, Bihar, who carried a bounty of Rs 25,000 and the other accused has been identified as Ankur alias Gopal Singh Dhina from Chandauli. Police have seized their motocycle, a revolver and .32 bore pistol from them.

Fourth Encounter

The fourth encounter had took place in UP's Agra at around 3AM wherein a criminal carrying a bounty of Rs 40,000 was apprehended at the Sikandra police station area. Police had tracked down the criminal in connection with robbery of a private gold loan firm. Two kilograms of gold ornaments and Rs 42,000 have been recovered from the accused. Meanwhile, police are still looking for the mastermind of the robbery case, Narendra alias Lala.

Police had tracked down the criminal in connection with robbery of a private gold loan firm. Two kilograms of gold ornaments and Rs 42,000 have been recovered from the accused. Meanwhile, police are still looking for the mastermind of the robbery case, Narendra alias Lala.
