Bhopal: A one-and-a-half-year-old girl from Madhya Pradesh successfully underwent a tumor surgery in a hospital in Ahmedabad. An undeveloped fetus weighing 400 grams was found from the baby's stomach.
Harshitbhai's one-and-a-half-year-old daughter Vedika was suffering from stomach tumor for three months. Vedika's father got information about the hospital in Ahmedabad through social media. He contacted Dr. Rakesh Joshi of the hospital through Twitter and Dr Rakesh Joshi agreed to help. The hospital specializes in treating complex diseases in children.
Harshitbhai, a jewelry merchant visited many hospitals in Madhya Pradesh for the treatment of Vedika's tumor. The baby had an undeveloped fetus in her stomach and most hospitals in the state were not equipped to treat the condition.
Doctors from the Department of Pediatric Surgery at the hospital in Ahmedabad conducted a CT scan of Vedika and it again showed that the girl had an undeveloped fetus weighing 400 grams in her abdomen. Dr. Rakesh Joshi, Head of the Department of Pediatric Surgery at the hospital, has a long experience of performing such extremely complex surgeries, so he along with his team took the initiative to do the entire surgery.
With the help of Dr. Jayshree Ramji, Associate Professor, Department of Pediatric Surgery and Trupti Shah, Associate Professor, Department of Anesthesia and after three hours of heavy effort, the surgery was performed successfully and the fetus was removed.
One in 5 lakh children worldwide are found suffering from the complex condition. If accuracy and caution are not taken during the surgery, the chances of bleeding from the right kidney, pancreas are high, according to doctors. Keeping all these things in mind, the entire surgery was done successfully.
