The woman, who was employed at a beauty parlour, was on her way back home when Kabir and Majid arrived on a motorcycle and stopped by her side on the pretext of asking for an address. As she began guiding them, Majid splashed acid on her. The attack was an act of revenge and carried out on the direction of Ganesh as the victim had turned down the latter's marriage proposal.
Her lawyer BS Mamatha told the court that apart from losing sight, the victim also suffered from breathing difficulty after the incident. Therefore, the court ordered the convicts to pay her a compensation of Rs 5 lakh.
"I was patient and I knew justice would prevail. Though delayed, I am glad the culprits are finally brought to book," the victim said.
