Rewa (Madhya Pradesh): A 16-year-old girl has allegedly been gang-raped by her uncle and his friends at Tikuri village under Gadh police limits in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district, police said on Tuesday.
The suspects have been identified as Vanshpati Rawat and Ankit Rawat of the same locality.
The incident came to light after the family members of the minor saw her bleeding and rushed her to the hospital in Rewa.
According to sources, the incident took place on October 8 evening when the girl was returning from a birthday party. Two persons abducted the girl after threatening her with sharp weapons and took her to an isolated place and attacked her.
The girl suffered from extensive internal injuries and has been admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Rewa, where her condition is stated to be critical.
Later, her family lodged a complaint with Rewa police station against the accused and his accomplices.
Acting on the complaint, police have arrested Ankit Rawat and started interrogating him.
Meanwhile, the prime accused, Vanshpati Rawat is at large. Police have launched a manhunt to nab the accused.
In her statement, the girl said that the accused took her to a lonely place and sexually assaulted her. She alleged that they beat her up and threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident.
The accused has been arrested and a case registered against him under the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, sources added.
