Mediterranean Sea: SOS Mediterranee and French charity group Doctors Without Borders (MSF) teams rescued 356 people from rubber boats in four separate rescue operations over two days off the coast of Libya.

The migrants were transferred aboard the Norwegian-flagged Ocean Viking. It was unclear where or when they might find a safe harbor.

Another 151 migrants remain on board the Spanish charity vessel, the Proactiva Open Arms.

Determined to keep aid groups' boats from taking migrants to ports in Italy, Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini has banned Ocean Viking from the country and its territorial waters.
