Watch: Colombo hotel CCTV shows moment of blast

Days after series of blasts in Sri Lanka, Kingsbury Hotel has released a CCTV footage which shows how the blast took place inside the hotel. In the video, a suicide bomber can be seen coming out of a red car and entering the hotel with a backpack.

Colombo: Colombo's Kingsbury Hotel has released a CCTV footage which shows the moment of blast on Easter Sunday which claimed more than 250 lives and left 500 injured.

In the video, a suicide bomber can be seen coming out of a red car and entering the hotel with a backpack. Then the bomber approached the front desk of the hotel and took a lift to enter his room.

Moments after, the bomber was seen coming out of the room and taking the lift again to reach the restaurant of the hotel. Few seconds after the blast rocked the hotel.

A day after the series of blasts, Catholic leaders across the island nation cancelled Sunday Masses indefinitely. Officials urged Muslims to stay home for Friday prayers.

In a recent development to the suicide attacks, at least 15 people including 6 children were killed in a gun battle between Sri Lanka forces and terrorists in Kalmunai city on Friday night.

Three fresh blasts were reported in Sammanthurai while police conducted raids last evening. Police recovered Islamic State uniforms, ISIS flags, 150 Gelignite sticks, 100,000 ball bearings and a drone camera.
