The family of the victim got to know about his death after receiving a phone call by an unidentified person, suggesting that the incident could be a case of personal enmity.
Singh, 25, was the brother of an Islamabad-based journalist, Harmeet Singh.
Harmeet got a call last night from Ravinder's cellphone with some unknown person informing him about the murder.
The dead body has been shifted to a hospital for post mortem.
Explaining the condition of minorities in the country, Harmeet said, "Pakistan receives funding amounting to crores for the safety of minorities, but unfortunately the minorities are not safe as I am carrying the dead body of my brother today."
Earlier on Friday, an angry group of local residents had pelted stones at Gurdwara Nankana Sahib in Pakistan. The group was led by the family of a boy who had abducted Sikh girl Jagjit Kaur, daughter of the Gurdwara's granthi.
Investigation into the incident is underway, police said.
