Christchurch: New Zealand police arrested a 33-year-old man on Tuesday after they found ammunition and a package containing a suspected explosive device at a vacant property in Christchurch, where a gunman killed 50 people at two mosques.
In a statement, police said that a defence force bomb squad had rendered the package safe.
A number of nearby houses were evacuated and a no-fly zone temporarily imposed as the incident unfolded.
At the time of the 15 March attacks, police said that the gunman had a number of weapons as well as two improvised explosive devices in his car.
