Huawei urges US to lift export restrictions

Shenzhen: Huawei on Friday called on Washington to remove it from the security blacklist and also said that the Chinese tech giant has yet to see benefit from the US President Donald Trump's promise to allow US companies to sell components to the company.

Speaking in a press conference Huwaei's chairman Liang Hua has called United State's decision to add Huawei to a list that restricts exports as unjust and unfair. He also referred to Trump's promise to allow some sales to Huawei but said it stays on the entity list.

"So far there's been no real, concrete change," Liang said. "We believe our listing on the blacklist should be lifted completely," he added.

However, Huawei is managing their supply chain and sourcing their components from different suppliers to manage the risk of American government cut-offs.

In response to the loss of access to Google's Android operating system Huwaei has developed its own operating system Hongmeng but they don't plan to use it on phones.

Huwaei is currently developing its own chips and technologies which will help them reduce the amount spend on US components and will also allow them to provide a shield for the company against supply disruptions.
