US blacklists Chinese individuals over SCS

Washington has announced fresh visa restrictions on Chinese individuals over their involvement in the construction or militarization of disputed outposts in the South China Sea.

Hyderabad: The US has announced visa restrictions on the Chinese individuals responsible for, or complicit in, either large-scale reclamation, construction, or militarization of disputed outposts in the South China Sea.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that Chinese individuals involved in Beijing's use of coercion against Southeast Asian claimants will now be inadmissible into the US, & their immediate family members may be subject to these visa restrictions as well.

Tensions between Washington and Beijing are at an all-time high with both sides announcing fresh restrictions against each other.

The US had announced multiple sanctions over Xinjiang and Tibet against some Chinese individuals that included key people of the Communist Party. In return, Beijing had also announced similar sanctions that included some US Senators who were voicing over minority abuse in Xinjiang.
