Lima: At least 20 people were killed after a fire broke out in a bus on the northern outskirts of Peru's capital Lima on Sunday, authorities said.
According to a fire department spokesperson, the blaze took place while the bus was at a stop where poor people catch buses, often at lower fares than the normal.
The fire started in the motor of the bus in the rear of the vehicle and spread quickly, local media reported.
Lima fire department chief said, firefighters could not confirm the exact number of casualties as people had been trapped on the second deck of the bus as they tried to escape.
