Hyderabad: Sudipto Sen's The Kerala Story has begun its second week at the box office on a good note after ruling the ticket counters for a week. However, compared to its seventh day, its collection neither decreased nor increased on its eighth day. It seems like the movie will take one more day to achieve the Rs 100 crore milestone.
According to an industry tracker, The Kerala Story garnered Rs 12.50 crore on its eighth day (early estimates), which is the same as its seventh day's earnings of Rs 12.50 crore. This takes the total revenue for the movie to over Rs 94 crore. The movie is still drawing good crowds to the theatres as it witnessed occupancy of 25.77% in the Hindi-speaking market.
The Kerala Story saw an increase in its box office take over the first weekend after opening with Rs 8.03 crore in the theatres. On Saturday, it brought in Rs 11.22 crore, and on Sunday, it earned Rs 16.40 crore. Its first Monday saw a solid total of Rs 10.07 crore, which was followed by Rs 11.14 crore and Rs 12 crore on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the movie's box office collection has been "phenomenal" and an "eye-opener."

The Kerala Story may soon surpass the lifetime earnings of Salman Khan's Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, which ended its run in theatres with just Rs 107.71 crore. This is due to the rate at which The Kerala Story is expanding at the box office. The Adah Sharma-led film has already outperformed Ajay Devgn's Bholaa (Rs 82.04 crore), Akshay Kumar's Selfiee (Rs 16.85 crore), and Kartik Aaryan's Shehzada (Rs 32.20 crore) among other star vehicles.
However, it has not been able to overpower The Kashmir Files by Vivek Agnihotri, which is regarded as being on par with The Kerala Story. Meanwhile, The Kerala Story has no competition in sight, which gives it the freedom to grow further and draw large audiences to theatres.
