New Delhi: General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI), Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy in conversation with the ETV Bharat reporter said that CPI is confident about Kanhaiya Kumar's win in Begusarai.

" The chances look very good for Kanhaiya Kumar as he is bringing a change to the society. He is cutting across the lines of caste and religion and is getting support from all sections of the society. We are confident of him winning the Begusarai seat" said Reddy who was on a week-long campaign in Bihar for Kanhaiya.

He was accompanied by Bollywood celebrities Swara Bhaskar, Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azmi and other leaders of the left-leaning parties of CPIM and CPI-ML.

"Surely it would have played an important role in Kanhaiya securing a victory from Begusarai. The RJD should have been considerate of the fact that our main goal is to defeat the BJP and hence I also requested the RJD supremo Tejaswi Yadav to retire the candidate Tanvir Hasan from the Begusarai seat," said Reddy.

He further explained how it would have been mutually beneficial even for the RJD had they supported Kanhaiya's candidature and kept them in the mahagathbandhan.

" The CPI has around 1,00,000 votes and all seats would have been a clear vote transfer to RJD, so it would have been beneficial for them as well. But I don't know what happened and why they decided to keep us out."

The CPI leader also lashed out at BJP leader and Union Minister Giriraj Singh for his recent statement where he said that green flags should be banned for campaigns as it makes him feel like 'he is in Pakistan'.

As the Lok Sabha 2019 elections gets to the fourth round of polling , a very heated seat happens to be that of Begusarai in Bihar where the BJP stalwart Giriraj Singh is taking on former JNUSU President and CPI leader Kanhaiya Kumar.
ETV Bharat spoke to the Secretary General of Communist Party of India Sudhakar Reddy who was campaigning and canvassing for the former JNU student's union president. " the chances look very good for Kanhaiya Kumar as he is bringing a change to the society. He is cutting across the lines of caste and religion and is getting support from all sections of the society. We are confident of him winning the Begusarai seat" said Reddy who was on a week long campaign in Bihar for Kanhaiya along with Bollywood celebrities Swara Bhaskar, Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azmi and other leaders of the left leaning parties of CPIM and CPI ML.
Reddy although feels that had the mahagathbandhan and RJD supported Kanhaiya's candidature, it would have been much easier for them to take on Giriraj Singh from Begusarai. "Surely it would have played and important role in Kanhaiya securing a victory from Begusarai. The RJD should have been considerate of the fact that are main goal is to defeat the BJP and hence I also requested the RJD supremo Tejaswi Yadav to retire the candidate Tanvir Hasan from the Begusarai seat".
Explaining how it would have been mutually beneficial even for the RJD, Sudhakar Reddy said" See, the CPI has around 100000 votes and all seats and it would have been a clear vote transfer to RJD so it would have been beneficial for them as well if they had supported Kanhaiya in Begusarai and had kept us in the mahagathbandhan. But I don't know what happened and why they decided to keep us out".
The CPI leader also lashed out at BJP leader and Union Minister Giriraj Singh for his recent statement where he said that green flags should be banned for campaigns as it makes him feel like 'he is in Pakistan'. " we all know that it is old habit of talking garbage and I was surprised by the fact that he was quiet for last 15 20 days. But I knew the moment he speaks out he will speak something rubbish. These people think that they have Monopoly on nationalism and that everyone who opposes them anti nationals" Reddy said.
