New Delhi: After Ghaziabad and Gurgaon, United by Blood (UBB) has launched a drive-through vaccination facility in Delhi for the first time. The initiative has been launched by IAS Abhishek Singh who has been at the forefront, providing covid relief efforts such as doorstep delivery of oxygen and the launch of a plasma donor-patient discovery platform.

United by Blood is going to conduct a vaccination drive on May 26 from 10 am onwards, wherein citizens aged 45+ (both first and second doses) will be administered the Covishield vaccine in Vegas Mall, Dwarka. The vaccines are being provided by Akash hospital.

On Thursday, May 27, Covaxin will also be administered to citizens of both the age groups viz 18 to 45, and 45+ at selected sites in partnership with Fortis Hospital. A drive-through vaccination facility is also being held on the same day at the Chhatrasal stadium for citizens above 45 years of age, for the first dose of the Covishield. vaccine.

"We recognize immediate and widespread vaccination as a prong in the two-pronged strategy to help with the current situation, the other being community participation in revamping healthcare infrastructure", Singh said.

"To speed up the vaccination process we must infuse innovation and technology to provide comfort, convenience and safety for the citizens. With Drive-through vaccination facilities across malls and public stadiums, we aim to achieve maximum vaccination numbers in our nation," he added.

People can now drive into the facility, in the comfort of their air-conditioning and get vaccinated by just rolling down their windows. Once the dose is administered, the person has to spend a mandatory 30-minute period in a dedicated waiting area under the observation of healthcare professionals.

For the convenience of citizens, United by Blood will provide a real-time live feed on the number of doses available and the number of cars in the queue, so that they can plan their drive-in accordingly.

Since all the people will be in their cars, social distancing norms will be automatically followed.

"Vaccination in the car is a quicker, safer and a more convenient way of vaccination", Singh said, adding that UBB has already requested other state governments across India to start a similar initiative.
