Wipro clarifies no salary cuts or retrenchment plans for employees

Bengaluru: IT major Wipro on Friday clarified ETV Bharat that there is no salary cut for the on going project employees and awaiting new project employees. Also there is no cost cutting plan, Wipro added.

According to reports that appeared in a section of media that the Pune Labour Commission has issued a notice to Wipro regarding the company benching 300 employees.

When ETV Bharat asked a clarification from Wipro regarding the notice, the latter responded saying via email, “The speculation related to the workforce is unfounded and has no basis. Wipro categorically denies these rumors. There are no salary cuts for employees who are in between projects and are awaiting new assignments. Also, the company wants to reiterate that there are no retrenchment plans. Wipro has well-defined policies and people practices in place to take care of its employees."

"Wipro is yet to receive any communication from the Labour Department. The company will present the facts before the department, as and when required,” it added.

Wipro has not given any clarity regarding the benching, it only hinted that their HR policies are employee friendly and there is going to be no salary cuts for employees.
