Bengaluru: Karnataka State Government on Monday stated that the Land Reforms Act of 1961 is amended which now allows industries to directly purchase land from farmers.
Earlier the process of purchasing land was through Government agencies only, which took a minimum of 3 years. But now it can be done only in 30 days.
Industries must still take permission from Revenue Department, and if the Deputy Commissioner of Revenue department doesn't object buying it will be considered approved.
This amendment is brought to revive falling economy due to Coronavirus Lock down, however this has been due for many years.
Welcoming this move Economic Analyst D Muralidhar said,"This is long awaited amendment and is welcoming. However earlier procedure was cumbersome. Now land can be bought in 30 days of time."
