Govt committed to double farmers income by 2020: FM

Presenting the Budget 2020 in Lok Sabha, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the government is committed to the goal of doubling farmers' income by 2020.

New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented her second Budget in the Parliament on Saturday. The Modi government has tried to give something to every sector in this first complete budget of this financial year in its second term.

The government has pegged the agricultural credit target at Rs 15 lakh crore for fiscal 2020-21, Sitharaman said on Saturday. In her Budget presentation, the Finance Minister also said that NABARD refinance scheme would be expanded.

  • States asked to adopt 3 central model laws on agri land leasing, contract farming: FM
  • For better marketing and export, supporting states will focus on one product for one district, so that high focus is given at district level for horticulture to gain momentum
