Narayanpur: Post surrender, India's ageing guerrillas have been subjected to a life that was never promised!
The dream of a dignified life that was shown to them, proved to be a mirage as they surrendered their arms and ammunition in front of the government forces.
The two surrendered Naxals, who once used to unleash terror in the deeply forested area of Chhattisgarh's Abujmarh, have seen their dominance shrink only to work as masons in a village.
While the surrender was backed by villagers, who in unison vowed to not support the anti-government and anti-establishment forces, the village now has been restricted to regular torture by the Naxals.
While a total of four surrendered in Abujmarh's Kadar village, two were killed by the guerrillas within a year, on charges of being police informers. The situation became such that people from five nearby villages began to flee their homes.
While the government has been spending extensively on the rehabilitation of the surrendered Maoists, the support not reaching the former Naxals have been a major cause of concern for the ex-guerrillas.
