The nation remembers the valour of twenty brave soldiers of the Indian Army who bravely laid down their lives in the service of the motherland at Galwan valley in Eastern Ladakh. June 15 marks the first anniversary of the deadly clash which took place between Indian and Chinese troops.

2- Involvement of Indian authorities in Dominican court process is unfortunate, says Mehul Choksi's UK lawyer

Expressing discontent over the involvement of Indian authorities in the Dominican court process in the case related to Mehul Choksi, his UK lawyer Michael Polack claimed that the plan was to get the fugitive diamantaire back to India without any legal process taking place in the Caribbean country.

5- Gehlot demands probe into alleged embezzlement of donations for Ram Temple construction

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday demanded that the Centre should investigate the matter and punish the guilty. Stating that the news of the embezzlement of donations collected for the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya has shaken the faith of people.

1. Pakistan NGOs could misuse India Covid aid, says report

United States-based Pakistan-linked charity organisations collected funds in name of helping India in the COVID-19 crisis, however, the donated millions of dollars are likely to be used for "fomenting protests and sponsoring outright terror attacks", according to a report by DisInfo Lab.

The Indian Army on Tuesday paid glowing tributes to its fallen soldiers at Galwan Valley on the first anniversary of their martyrdom. Twenty Indian soldiers died in unarmed fighting with Chinese troops on the border in eastern Ladakh.

On June 15, 2020, the commanding officer (CO) of the 16 Bihar Regiment, Col. Santosh babu was killed in action during an unarmed clash with PLA troops in the Galwan valley of Eastern Ladakh. He was posthumously awarded India's second-highest wartime gallantry award, the Maha Vir Chakra.  

4. SC quashes FIR against two Italian marines in connection with killing of two Kerala fishermen

The Supreme Court on Tuesday quashed all criminal proceedings in India against two Italian Marines, Massimiliano Latorre and Salvatore Girone, accused of killing two fishermen off the Kerala coast in 2012 on Centre's request. The court said Republic of Italy shall resume further investigation in case of killing of two Kerala fishermen.

5. Parliamentary committee summons Twitter on June 18

After a fresh tussle with the Centre over new IT rules, Twitter has now been summoned by the Parliamentary Standing Committee for Information and Technology.

1. India registers lowest Covid cases of over 60K since March 29

India's Covid caseload continued to fall with the country recording 60,461 new cases, lowest since March 29 and 2,726 fatalities due to the virus in the last 24 hours, according to data released by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry on Tuesday.

2. West Bengal demands more GST compensation

West Bengal Finance Minister Amit Mitra on Monday said that the state needs to be given an additional compensation (Goods and Services Tax compensation) of Rs 4,911 crores, adding that he had written to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in this regard but received no response so far.

3. 17-yr-old stops poachers from hunting Chinkara

A teenager from Kharada Bharat Singh Village of Gida tehsil in the Barmer district of Rajasthan has become the talk of the town. In the video, a 17-year-old Jujhar Singh is seen stopping armed poachers from hunting chinkara (Indian gazelle).

India will participate in the World Expo at Dubai to be held from October to March and showcase 11 themes, including space technology, Union minister Jitendra Singh said on Monday.

5. NATO nations ready to jointly respond to attacks in space

NATO leaders on Monday expanded the use of their all for one, one for all, mutual defence clause to include a collective response to attacks in space. Article 5 of NATO's founding treaty states that an attack on any one of the 30 allies will be considered an attack on them all. Until now, it's only applied to more traditional military attacks on the land, sea, or in the air, and more recently in cyberspace.

At least 20 Indian soldiers, including a commanding officer posted in Galwan Valley along with subedars, havildars and sepoys, were martyred following a skirmish with Chinese troops on the fateful night of June 15, 2020. As per reports, the bulk of the fatalities and injured were from 16 Bihar Regiment including the Commanding Officer Col B Santosh Babu and 12 soldiers including a Naib Subedar, a Havildar and Jawans.

2. Billionaire Nikhil Kamath admits to using unfair means to beat Viswanathan Anand in charity chess game

The All India Chess Federation (AICF) Secretary Bharat Chauhan has said it is "unfortunate" to see unfair methods employed in a charity chess game by Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath against five-time world champion Viswanathan Anand.

Research is taking place in India, the US and several other countries to see if booster dose will be needed for maintaining longer efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines, a senior doctor has said.

An FIR has been registered at Mumbai's Meghwadi Police Station in Powai against three men for allegedly raping a female assistant police inspector. In a statement issued on Monday, police said the main accused raped the female assistant police inspector on the pretext of marriage and recorded the act to blackmail her.

Delegations from Russia and the United States involved in nuclear negotiations with Iran held talks in Vienna on Monday, two days ahead of a summit meeting between U.S. President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
