New Delhi: Three leaders from Haryana, including Rebel BJP leader Pawan Beniwal, industrialist Ashok Goel Mangaliwala and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leader and former MP Tara Singh's son Kanwarjit Singh joined Congress, on Monday.
The trio joined the party in the presence of Haryana Congress in charge Vivek Bansal and state chief Kumari Selja at the party headquarters, here in New Delhi.
Ahead of the 2014 Assembly Elections, Beniwal had quit INLD to join BJP, which had given him a ticket from Ellanabad constituency but he lost against Abhay Chautala.
As Ellanabad constituency gears up for polls following the resignation of Abhay Chautala, Beniwal has joined hands with Congress.
While addressing the media, Selja said that these leaders have pledged to promote Congress ideology and had decided to join the party unconditionally. "There are leaders who understand that Congress is the only viable option to BJP which has proved a failure in all spheres of governance, be it on the issue of farm laws, unemployment, price hike or paper leaks," Selja said.
During the introduction of Kanwarjit Singh, Selja informed that he belongs to Karnal, which is the epicenter of farmers protest.
