Chittoor (Andhra Pradesh): A Sub-inspector and constable attached to Armed Reserve Police were arrested after they stole clothes from a roadside merchant. The incident happened some time ago but came to light only recently.
A man was running a garments business on the road between PVKN College and District Collector office. He had set up a shop on his van. He used to leave the vehicle and the shop on the roadside after neatly wrapping up the clothes.
Yet again, the shop owner left the shop for the night and when he returned the next day morning, he found that the wrappings were uncovered. Suspecting something fishy, he screened the CCTV camera he had set up in the shop.
He was shocked to see a policeman taking away the clothes from his shop. He gave the footage to the police and filed a complaint. Acting on the complaint, Chittoor district SP Senthil Kumar ordered an inquiry which revealed that SI Mohammad and constable Intiaz were culprits. Based on the SP's order, they were removed from duty and both were arrested.
