Rajouri: Police and the army recovered over Rs 1.64 crore from the bags belonging to an absconding criminal in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri.
Based on credible inputs, Rajouri district police and the army launched a joint search operation at Saryah village on Tuesday. During the search, currency notes worth Rs 1,64,70, 600 concealed in bags were recovered.
Investigations revealed the bags belonged to Manzoor Ahmad, son of Gulzar Hussain in Saryah, who is currently evading arrest.

A case has been registered in the Nowshera police station under Sections 17 (punishment for raising funds for terrorist act) and 21 (punishment for holding proceeds of terrorism of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Further arrests are expected, police said.
Manzoor Ahmad is related to Sikandar, who was recently arrested by a joint team of Punjab Police and Jammu & Kashmir police in connection with a case registered at Kathu Nangal police station in Punjab, they said.
