Groom stranded due to security restrictions over PM Modi's road show in Bengaluru

Several roads have been closed and traffic on many routes have been diverted due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's road show on Saturday.

Bengaluru: The security restrictions over Prime Minister Narendra Modi's road show in Bengaluru left a bridegroom's family in soup with the groom stranded on the road for a long time on Saturday. It was only after the aggrieved groom started protesting and his family managed to convince the police that they were allowed to go to the marriage hall that was located on the roadshow's route.

The security was stepped up in Bengaluru ahead of Modi's road show that was scheduled to begin from NICE Road Junction. The road show was supposed to head towards Magadi Road and finally end at Sumanhalli. Several roads have been shut down due to the road show while traffic on many other routes have been diverted. The Bengaluru police have also asked commuters to avoid certain routes. A detailed traffic advisory was also issued by the police in this regard.

In view of which, the entire stretch between NICE Road Junction to Sumanahalli Circle have been wrapped under security cover. When the police found the groom's car plying on this restricted road, they stopped it. Police personnel refused permission to the car to go any further. Even though the groom's family tried to explain that they were going to the marriage hall some distance ahead, the police remained firm on their decision.

Dressed in his wedding attire with a garland around his neck, the groom and his relatives remained stranded on the road. After waiting for a long time, the groom lost his temper and started arguing with the police. The guests, who were going to the marriage hall also joined the groom in criticising the police for stopping them. Finally, the groom and his family managed to convince the police following which, they were permitted to leave for the marriage hall.
