Petrol price touches new high, breaches Rs 109/L mark in Bhopal

Petrol price in Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal stands at Rs 109.89 per litre which is the highest price of petrol in the country. While Mumbai has become the second with petrol price at Rs 107.54 per litre.

New Delhi: Petrol prices in Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal soared to Rs 109.89 per litre, the highest in the country, while diesel in the city now costs Rs 98.67 per litre. The petrol prices in Mumbai rose to Rs 107.54 per litre, touching another record high figure after fuel rates were hiked again. The price of diesel in Mumbai stands at Rs 97.45 per litre.

In Delhi, the retail price of petrol and diesel stands at Rs 101.54 per litre and Rs 89.87 per litre respectively. In Kolkata, petrol costs Rs 101.74 per litre and diesel Rs 93.02 per litre. Prices have been increased across the country and they differ from state to state based on the value-added tax.

Meanwhile, the Opposition Congress has decided to launch a 10-day nationwide agitation against inflation from July 7. Several political parties have protested against the increasing fuel prices across the country. Political leaders, including BSP chief Mayawati, Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee have raised concerns over the rising fuel prices and demanded a slash in price.
