New Delhi: Shiv Sena on Thursday hit out at the Yogi Adityanath government for his attempts to reach out to the Bollywood celebrities and said that it is not easy to shift Mumbai's film city elsewhere even though attempts have been made.

The remarks of the Shiv Sena's chief spokesperson Sanjay Raut comes when Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was on a two-day Mumbai visit to meet film personalities and industrialists.

Adityanath had earlier unveiled an ambitious plan to set up a film city and rolled out an open offer to the film fraternity to come to Uttar Pradesh.

The Uttar Pradesh government earlier approved a proposal for setting up a film city in Sector 21 along the Yamuna Expressway in Gautam Buddh Nagar

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has also attacked the Yogi-Adityanath government. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) downplayed UP CM and compared Uttar Pradesh with Mumbai by calling it, "Kahan Raja Bhog aur Kaha Gangu Teli (meaning two places have vast differences and cannot be compared)".

NCP leader Nawab Malik told ETV Bharat, "Mumbai has got the title of Bollywood for the past 100 years and it is not that easy to shift the film city to some other state."

However, Maharashtra BJP leader Chandrakanth Patil clarified that Yogi Adityanath did not meet film stars and industrialists to shift the base of film city out of Mumbai but to get an understanding of its developments and accomplishments.

On the other hand, BJP leader and actor-turned-politician Manoj Tiwari heaped praises on Yogi's move and said that the people of north India are thankful to the state and Central government for taking this step.

He said, "After Yogi's visit to Mumbai, rumors are making rounds that film city will be shifted out of Mumbai and it will result in loss for Bollywood. But I want to assure that Yogi Adityanath visited Mumbai to strengthen Bollywood.

"Film crews visit various places across the country for shooting, then there is no loss?", he asked.

"Maharashtra government should praise UP govt's efforts so that talents from north India can also get a platform. They should stop doing petty politics and such behaviour does not suit them. Yogi Adityanath's step will boost the entire cinema industry.", he added.
