Bandipora: The National Investigation Agency continued its search operation in Jammu and Kashmir in connection with terror funding case on Monday. The central agency's operation was carried out at five locations in the Bandipora district as per a press release. Various incriminating documents and electronic devices were seized from the location.

Jammu and Kashmir police along with Central Reserve Police Force jointly with NIA carried out the search operation in the premises of alleged office bearers and members of banned terror outfit, JeI. Further investigation is underway.

The central agency conducted raids at multiple locations including Shopian, Anantnag and Bandipora last day. Of late, the NIA has carried out searches at different locations in two separate cases and also arrested a few people. Earlier, too, the NIA had carried out raids at multiple places in Kashmir and arrested several persons, including the chairman of a Darul Uloom.

The Jamaat-i-Islami (JeI) was banned by the Centre for five years in February 2019 citing anti-terror laws. It was based on the allegations that JeI was in close connection with militant outfits. The Ministry of Home Affairs had issued a notification imposing a ban on the group under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. It was decided in a high-level meeting on security chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In a major crackdown, hundreds of JeI activists were arrested in 2019, as per reports.
