New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the alleged Chinese intrusion and said that China is expanding its occupation into Indian territory.

Gandhi slammed Modi and said that he does not have the courage to say the word 'China' and Prime Minister has not used this word in the last few speeches.

Taking to Twitter, the Wayanad MP said, "China is expanding its occupation into Indian territory. Mr 56” hasn’t said the word ‘China’ for months. Maybe he can start by saying the word ‘China’."

RaGa's remarks come after reports of a small clash between Indian and Chinese troops which the army said happened on January 20.

Indian and Chinese troops were engaged in a "minor face-off" at Naku La area in North Sikkim on January 20 and it was resolved by local commanders as per established protocols, the Indian Army said on Monday.

The incident in Sikkim came amid the prolonged military standoff between the two sides in eastern Ladakh that erupted on May 5.

Gandhi also shared a small clip of him interacting with weavers, businessmen and traders in poll-bound Tamil Nadu.

He wrote, "India’s strength is a strong economy, employed youth & social harmony. Had Mr Modi protected our farmers-labourers-workers instead of hollowing out India by helping his crony capitalist friends, China wouldn’t have had the guts to take our land."

If India's labourers, farmers and weavers were strong, protected and given opportunities, China would never dare to come inside India, the Congress leader had said on Sunday. Gandhi had further alleged that China has understood that the Indian economy is on its knees, and every action of the government is designed to strengthen five-six big business people.

The former Congress president is on a three-day visit to the western belt in Tamil Nadu. He is interacting with farmers, weavers, and the general public over there. Gandhi is in the state till today and is also scheduled to visit the Dindigul district. Assembly elections are due in Tamil Nadu in April-May 2021

Rahul Gandhi has been criticising Modi government over the pandemic handling, unemployment, Chinese intrusion and grappling economy.
