Moradabad: The wife of a 22-year-old man, whose husband was arrested two weeks back under anti-conversion law in Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad, suffered a miscarriage. Pinki was sent to 'Nari Niketan', a shelter home, after her husband Rashid was arrested.

Rashid had married Pinki five months ago and the couple was going to the court to get their marriage registered on December 5. On their way to court, they were waylaid by Bajrang Dal men, who accused Rashid of 'love jihad', and took them to the police. Later, Rashid and Saleem were arrested and Pinki was sent to a shelter home.

Rashid and his brother Saleem were released following an order by a local court as the police failed to gather any evidence against him. After the chief judicial magistrate order, the Kanth police had submitted a report stating that they have not found any evidence against Rashid and Saleem.

Rashid's family said, "Pinki had told Kanth police that she had willingly married Rashid and showed all the relevant documents but the police did not listen. She was sent to Nari Niketan."

Thanking media persons, Rashid's family blamed Bajrang for whatever happened with them. However, they don't want to take the matter further.

"We want to live a happy and peaceful life. We don't want to take action against anyone," the family said.

Saleem said the officials at the police station treated them well and they were not assaulted in any manner.

Rashid and Saleem were asked to submit personal bail bonds of Rs 50,000 each for release.

Rashid's mother Nashima claimed that their family lawyer colluded with Bajrang Dal to lay a trap for Rashid.

"Pinki and Rashid had tied the knot five months ago. We took the advice of our lawyer Deepak to get the marriage registered and even gave him Rs 5,000. But Deepak and Bajrang Dal people were in collusion and handed Rashid over to the police," Nashima said.
