Mandya (Karnataka): Five members of a family were murdered in the Bazar Line area in Srirangapatna taluk of Mandya district of Karnataka on Saturday night. The deceased have been identified as Lakshmi (30), wife of Gangaram, his children Raju (12), Komal (7), Kunal (4), and his elder brother's son Govind (12).
After receiving the information Mandya South Zone IG Praveen Madhukar Pawar and Mandya SP N Yatish visited the spot and started an investigation. The police officials said Gangaram and his brother Ganesh are plastic decorative materials traders who travel to other states for their work. Once the brothers visit another state, they return after 15 to 30 days.
For the last two days, both were out of Karnataka. Knowing the brothers' absence some unidentified miscreants rushed to the house and brutally murdered the family members on Saturday night in their sleep. The miscreants have also stolen jewellery and cash from the house and escaped.

Speaking to the media, Ramally, a relative of the deceased woman, said, "They spoke to me yesterday night around 8 pm before they slept. Lakshmi used to get up at 5 am every day, so when it was around 9 am and she did not come out, I suspected that something was wrong. When my sister and I opened the door, we found them dead. I was shaken up by the sight as I did not expect to see this. We don't doubt anyone as the deceased family cannot speak Kannada".
