Mumbai (Maharashtra): In Maharashtra, double mutants have increased the risk of Covid infection. In a conversation with ETV Bharat, Dr. Tatyarao Lahane, a member of Maharashtra's Covid-19 task force, said that the people should not lower their guard against the virus for at least a year. He called the vaccine a 'boon' and an 'effective control measure'. He appealed to the citizens to follow the 'Trinity Rule'.

Vaccine—One and only solution

"I cannot predict whether there will be the third wave or the possibility of another virus mutation. The government has introduced vaccinations to bring corona under control. Vaccination will cause only mild symptoms including cold, cough, etc," said Dr. Tatyarao Lahane.

"It would take at least a year for life to return to normal," Dr. Lahane observed.

Plan for medicines, Remdesivir, and oxygen

As a preemptive step, stock up the medicines that are going to help during a possible third wave. Plan in such a way that Remdeisivir injection, oxygen shortage should not occur.

“Doctors in rural areas should feel free to ask the expert doctors about any kind of queries they have. The doctors of the task force in the state will guide you,” he said.

'Wear a double mask, follow the trinity rule'

After the second wave hit the state, the number of patients immediately increased and due to this strict restrictions have been imposed. As a result, the picture of a reduction in the number of patients can be seen. To bring it under control, the lockdown time period has been extended for 15 days. Citizens play a vital role in this decision. Everyone should wear a mask preferably wear a three-layer mask. If you choose to wear a cloth mask, it is necessary to wear a double mask because two masks will be helpful. People should not gather at one place, maintain proper physical distance, wash hands, use sanitizer are the three rules that should be followed strictly. If the citizens stay at home, they will not be exposed to corona as well as they won’t pass it on to others, said Dr. Tatyarao Lahane.

Vaccines according to capacity

It has been decided to provide free vaccines to persons in the age group of 18 to 44 years in the state. Currently, two companies manufacture vaccines in India. The vaccination process will be planned according to the capacity of the vaccine available to the population of the state. ‘CoWin’ app has been created to carry out the vaccination process swiftly. The vaccine will be available only after registration through this app. Dr. Tatyarao Lahane has also appealed, not to gather in large for the same.
