Rajouri/Jammu: Terming a cross-border infiltration bid by a group from Pakistan near Nakarkot in J&K's Poonch sector on Thursday an attempt to divert the attention of the country's citizens from the 'ongoing turmoil', the Indian Army, in a press conference on Friday, said that forces were alert to counter any attempt to disrupt peace in the region.
Speaking at the event, Brigadier Rajesh Bisht, Commander to the Poonch Brigade, said troops 'observed a suspicious movement of three infiltrators in Pathani suit' at around 9:30 am, who 'opened heavy volume of fire' on the troops when challenged.

A search operation after the intense firefight saw the body of one of the militants being recovered, alongside two AK-74 rifles with four magazines and 43 rounds, one Chinese pistol with seven rounds and a magazine, one Claymore mine along with cables and a battery, one SMG magazine, a bag, a pouch, combat colours, and other articles.
The bodies of the two other terrorists were taken away by the residents of villages in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on carts, officials said.
"Security forces have successfully eliminated a major infiltration bid in Poonch sector and thwarted the nefarious designs of the western adversary to vitiate the peace in Poonch and Rajouri Sectors" the Brigadier further said.
