Hyderabad: A single-day rise of 20,799 infections and 180 fatalities pushed India's COVID-19 tally to 33,834,702 cases and 4,48,997 deaths, as per the Union Health Ministry.
The active caseload has declined to 2,64,458, the lowest in 200 days, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.89 per cent, the highest since March 2020, the data updated on Monday showed. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.10 per cent. It has been less than three per cent for the last 35 days. The weekly positivity rate was recorded at 1.63 per cent.

The cumulative COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country under the nationwide vaccination drive have exceeded 90.79 crore. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 3,31,21,247.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Monday said India has administered the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to 70 per cent of its population. In a tweet, the minister said, "Strong Nation, Rapid Vaccination: India has administered the first dose of #COVID19 vaccination on 70% of the population. Under PM @NarendraModi ji, India is achieving new landmarks in the fight against the pandemic. Keep it up India, let us fight Corona."
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, a total of 57.42 crore samples were tested up to October 3, of which 9,91,676 samples were tested on Sunday.
