To cremate bodies of COVID-19 victims, the government has set up a crematorium at Giddenahalli. However, BJP MLA and Bangalore Development Authority president SR Vishwanath allegedly tried to earn brownie points by putting up a flex comprising photos of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, Revenue Minister R Ashok, Bengaluru city district panchayat president Mariswamy and himself.

"Free food, tea, coffee, water and food is arranged for those attending the funeral rites," read the flex.

As pictures of the flex started drawing flak on social media, the Yelahanka MLA got the flex removed. "It is a rocky area. On humanitarian grounds, I instructed the authorities concerned to provide drinking water and food to those coming here as there are no shops nearby. I did not ask for a flex. This is not right," Vishwanath said.

"I am not a person who does politics in such matters. This flex has been put up by our party workers without my knowledge," he said.
