Awantipora: Two militants were killed in an encounter that broke out between security forces and militants in Nowbugh in Tral area of Awantipora in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday morning. Police and security forces are carrying out the operation.
Kashmir Zone Police said, "One unidentified terrorist killed in Tral encounter. Operation underway. One more terrorist has been neutralised in Tral encounter, so far two terrorists have been killed in the encounter. Encounter underway."

Kashmir Zone Police had earlier tweeted, "Encounter has started at Nowbugh in Tral area of Awantipora. Police and security forces are carrying out the operation. Further details shall follow."
The firefight between the terrorists and the security forces took place after a joint team of the police and the army cordoned off the area and launched a search operation on the basis of specific information about the presence of terrorists there. As the security forces zeroed in on the spot where terrorists were hiding, they came under a fire that triggered the encounter."

It is pertinent to mention that another encounter is underway in Shopian from yesterday in which three militants have been killed so far.
