COVID-19: India records 44,230 fresh cases, 555 deaths

India reported 44,230 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, as per the data updated by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry on Friday. The death toll climbed to 4,23,217 with 555 deaths, while the active cases in the country now stand at 4,05,155.

Hyderabad: India reported 44,230 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, as as per the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry on Friday. The death toll climbed to 4,23,217 with 555 deaths, while the active cases in the country now stand at 4,05,155 with a recovery rate of 97.38 per cent.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 3,07,43,972. The Ministry said that 45,60,33,754 people have been vaccinated so far in the country under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 46,46,50,723 samples have been tested up to July 29. Of which, 18,16,277 samples were tested on Thursday.
