Infighting had broken out in the Kerala Congress after the list of DCC presidents was released. A P Anil Kumar, former KPCC organisational secretary had recently resigned from the party and joined CPM, openly expressing his displeasure over the way the current party leadership was working.
Though AICC managed to pacify top party leaders, disputes are likely to emerge over KPCC restructuring. Anwar will face a herculean task to forge a consensus among the senior leaders.

Anwar will hold standalone meetings with senior leaders Oommen Chandy and Ramesh Chennithala apart from meeting KPCC president K Sudhakaran and Opposition Leader V D Satheeshan. Anwar will also hold discussions with other senior party leaders and various group members for the next two days. The Congress A and I groups have already given their choice of candidates who need to be included in KPCC to Sudhakaran. Anwar is expected to hold discussions regarding this list as well.
Congress leadership is moving cautiously to prevent more leaders from resigning from the party. Proceedings are also on to form Congress unit committees and Anwar is also slated to participate in the valedictory function of a party cadre workshop at Neyyar Dam.
