British Diplomat molested by biker in Chandigarh, case registered

A 60-year-old British Diplomat was allegedly molested in Chandigarh's Sector-10, while she was on her way to play tennis, police said.

Chandigarh: A women diplomat at the British Deputy High Commission was allegedly molested on Wednesday in Chandigarh's sector-10, police said.

The incident took place at around 6 am in the morning, while she was out on her morning walk, after which she was informed about the incident to the British Deputy High Commission in Chandigarh.

The 60-year-old diplomat in her complaint with police said that the incident took place when she left her residence in Sector 9 to walk towards Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association (CLTA), near DAV College in Sector 10.

The British diplomat, also told the police that the accused, coming from the rear side, hit her on the back. She shouted at him and also ran after him, but the biker managed to speed away.

On the basis of the diplomat's complaint, Chandigarh police have registered the case under Section 354-A (physical contact and advances involving unwelcome and explicit sexual overtures) of the Indian Penal Code at the Sector 3 of the police station.

No arrest has been made in the case so far. The police have been scanning footage from CCTVs installed in the area to trace the accused.
