Kanpur: An explosion occurred in Pahalwanpurwa, around 15 km from where Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath was scheduled to address a rally few hours later. Seven people were injured in the incident. Police said investigations were on.

The incident occurred at around 3 am on Tuesday while Adityanath's rally was slated at around 12 pm later in the southern region of the city. The intensity of the explosion was so strong that glasses of the neighbouring houses were broken. When Nawabganj police reached the house where explosion occurred, they found all goods were scattered.

Police initially thought that the explosion was due to a leakage of the refrigerator's compressor. But, during investigation, forensic team experts found that the condition of the refrigerator was good. Police are now suspecting that some explosive substance must have been stored in the house following which, the accident occurred. The family members are being interrogated. ACP Md Akmal Khan reached the spot with the forces from several police stations and have started an investigation.
