BJP leader Rameshwar Sharma gifted a copy of the Ramayana to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and urged her to read it carefully.

Bhopal: After West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee refused to deliver her address at Parakram Diwas as Jai Shree Ram slogans were chanted, pro-tem Speaker of Madhya Pradesh Assembly Rameshwar Sharma gifted her a copy of Ramcharitmanas's Ramayana. Sharma claimed that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is upset over Jai Shree Ram slogans, urging her to read it carefully.

"Is Mamata Banerjee facing pressure from Bangladesh? Why is she so scared of chanting Jai Shree Ram slogans? Is she afraid of minority community residing in Bangladesh?", he asked.

He added, "Why does Mamata Banerjee get irked when people say Jai Shree Ram? Is she from Bangladesh?"

He said, "Didi, you are the Chief Minister of West Bengal. The slogans of Vande Manatram were first raised in Bengal. It is a land of great philosophers like Ram Krishna Paramhans, Swami Vivekananda...do you know that Lord Ram is Maryada Purushottam?"

"If followers of Lord Ram in India won't chant his slogans, where are they expected to go?", he asked Banerjee.

Sharna urged that people should be freely allowed to chant 'Jai Shree Ram' slogans and leaders must not oppose it.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Trinamool Congress (TMC )were engaged in a bitter war of words on the occasion of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's birth anniversary. The bitter turf war between TMC and BJP has come out in the open over Netaji's legacy just head of the Bengal Assembly elections.

Banerjee lost her cool over sloganeering at a Netaji event and refused to deliver her speech in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

When it was Mamata's turn to give her speech, a section of the crowd indulged in sloganeering and chanted 'Jai Shree Ram.' The West Bengal chief minister then went on to announce that she won't be giving her speech as a mark of protest against the slogans.
