Bengal youth held for posting morphed photo of PM Modi on social media

A garage mechanic was arrested in West Bengal's Kanksa for allegedly posting morphed photos of PM Modi on social media. The accused was presented before Durgapur sub-divisional court where he confessed his guilt by saying that he made a mistake.

Durgapur (West Bengal): West Bengal Police detained a garage mechanic on Friday for allegedly posting morphed photos of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on social media.

Kalu Sheikh Dhrita, resident of Hajra Para at Kanksa in West Bengal, allegedly posted photoshopped pictures of Modi which had been circulating on social media for several days.

Finding it offensive, a local youth registered a complaint with Kanksa police. Following this, police arrested the accused and presented him before Durgapur sub-divisional court on Saturday.

During the proceedings, Kalu Sheikh admitted his guilt and pleaded for mercy saying that he made a mistake and such a post was inappropriate.

Meanwhile, the Asansol-Durgapur Police Commissionerate warned people to refrain from posting offensive content on social media.
