Uttar Pradesh woman tweets about domestic violence in Dubai; MEA responds

A 30-year-old woman hailing from Uttar Pradesh's Meerut took to Twitter on Wednesday, narrating her ordeal about the domestic violence that she has been facing from the last seven months, went viral on several social media platforms. As per the reports, the Indian Consulate in Dubai has contacted the woman and assured her for all possible help to her.

Lucknow: A 30-year-old woman hailing from Uttar Pradesh's Meerut took to Twitter on Wednesday, narrating her ordeal about the domestic violence that she has been facing from the last seven months, went viral on several social media platforms.

According to the viral video, Divya Gupta had an arrange marriage with Dipesh Gupta in April 2018. After a year, she left India and has been living in Dubai with her husband, mother-in-law, sister-in-law and her 13-month-old daughter. She alleged that her husband along with his family members beats her for dowry.

"My husband and my mother-in-law used to beat badly in front of my 13-month-old daughter. My baby got scared. I went to Dubai Police to complain about the same, but they suggested me to cooperate with my husband," said Divya Gupta in a two-minute video uploaded on Twitter.

As per the latest update, the Indian Consulate in Dubai has contacted the woman and assured her for all possible help to her.
