5 Gautam Budh Nagar jail inmates to be released on Republic Day

At least five prisoners will walk free on this Republic Day from Gautam Budh Nagar District jail in Uttar Pradesh. The government has decided to release them for good behaviour, age and disease factors.

Gautam Buddh Nagar, Noida (Uttar Pradesh): As many as five prisoners, including a 90-year-old inmate, will be released from Gautam Budh Nagar District Prison in Noida on the occasion of Republic Day. The government has decided the premature release of prisoners on the grounds of behaviour, conduct, behaviour with police personnel, age and disease.

The five prisoners have been identified as Naim Singh, Bharat Singh, Om Prakash, Ram Bhajan and another person's identity is yet to be ascertained.

As per the policy of the government, the sick and old prisoners are released from prisons every year on Republic Day and Independence Day. This year, on the occasion of Republic Day, five convicted criminals including 90-year-old Naim Singh, who were lodged in Gautam Budh Nagar District jail would be released.

Reportedly, all five prisoners have been jailed for more than one decade in connection with the various cases.

Notably, before sending the names of the prisoners to the government for release, the district administration sees how the prisoners live up to discipline. The state government, as a routine, releases such prisoners on occasions like Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanti and Republic Day.
