This Bihar man has been campaigning against plastic use for 29 years

Ashutosh Kumar from Nalanda, who has taken a vow to serve the nation being a bachelor, aware people about the bad effects of plastic. Most of the time, Kumar travels from one village to another, educating people about the detrimental impact resulting from the use of plastic.

Nalanda: In a quest to spread awareness against the use of plastic, a social worker from Hilsa has been running a high voltage campaign directed towards the aforementioned cause.

Ashutosh Kumar Manav has been involved in social work ever since he was in class 9.

Most of the time, Kumar travels from one village to another, educating people about the detrimental impact resulting from the use of plastic.

This man has been campaigning against plastic use for 29 years

His audience includes not only elders but also children as he ventures into schools, engaging the young lot.

In the course of dialogues, he discusses with children as well as their parents about the side-effects of plastic and asks them to pledge against the use of a non-environmental-friendly substance- plastic.

Kumar's talks leave a positive impact on kids as they are becoming an agent of change, spreading his words and not letting people around them to use plastic.

Biharsharif municipal commissioner Saurabh Kumar Jorrwal has also appreciated the work of Manav.

"I have always been interested in doing social work. In 1991, I launched my first campaign, along with my friends, against the use of plastic. Every Sunday we used to clean sewers and during our cleaning process, we realised that plastic was the major cause for drainage blockage and that's when I launched my first campaign," Manav told ETV Bharat.

Earlier, he campaigned for the 'Quit Gutkha' movement throughout Bihar, but now he is involved with Swachh Bharat Mission and Jal Jeevan Hariyali Abhiyan.

Such is his level of dedication that he has decided to devote his life to society and nation.

"I have decided to dedicate my life to social work. I have vowed not to get married... nor will I ever join politics," told Kumar.
