Gujarat: In the wake of coronavirus outbreak Tapovan Sanskar Pith is providing online study materials to students, as a precautionary measure against COVID-19, an official said on Thursday.
The Gujarat government on Saturday issued a notification declaring coronavirus as an epidemic disease under the Indian Epidemic Act, 1897, empowering certain officials to take action against classified cases as part of preventive measures.
Amid state's decision to ban conferences, seminars, workshops and close schools till March 31, Tapovan Sanskarpith has initiated a unique programme for students.

Reportedly, the school's decision to make online arrangements for the students has infused enthusiasm among the staff and pupils.
Tapovan’s worker Abhay Shah said, "Course materials are being provided to the students through live videos on social media platforms. Subject specialists are providing the educational video content for the benefit of students. This would provide safe and peaceful environment at a time when the country is battling with the deadly corona virus."
However, the Director-General of the Indian Council of Medical Research Balram Bhargava said that community transmission of COVID-19 has not yet occurred in India, meaning people who contracted the virus did so from a known source.
