New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today left for France for the induction ceremony of Rafale aircraft which is considered to be one of the most important deals for the defence of the country, experts feel that this is a major acquisition of aircrafts we are doing in the last two decades.
Talking to ETV Bharat, Defence analyst Brig. Arun Sahgal (Retd) said, "This is a major acquisition of aircraft we are doing in the last two decades. Rafale is fourth-generation plus aircraft and it will provide a quantum jump to Indian air capabilities. It will be a force multiplier as far as China and Pakistan are concerned."
"It is carrying the world's most advanced avionics and also a missile which is having about 150 Km range, shaft dispensers which will be able to distract the enemy missiles. The squadron deployment will provide a quantum jump in the offensive airpower is concerned," said Sahgal.
On asking about the role of government in finalizing the deal, Sahgal said, "The attitude of the current government is to conclude deals and the attitude of the previous government is to process deals- enter into acquisition process and let in conclude on its own terms based on what they felt was right kind of acquisition process."
"This government is in a hurry and feels that there has been a fairly high degree of erosion in our defence capability and trying best to improve," Sahgal added.
