New Delhi: Protestors, who have been protesting against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Rajghat for the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC), demanded Home Minister Amit Shah to clear all the clauses regarding the act.
Earlier in the day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah cleared that the Muslim born in India before July 1, 1987 or whose parents born on and before the date will get Indian citizenship.
When asked about Shah's statement, a protestor said," the act is wrong and unconstitutional".
She also added that the Modi government is dividing the nation by religious propaganda and using the law and order in such a violent way shows their hypocrisy.
The protestors alleged that the use of force over the students is inhuman and the students faced a lot of loss due to that. They also demanded enquiry over the state police for the use of force against students.
The Citizenship Amendment Bill was passed by the Rajya Sabha on Dec 11, after that, it faced a huge criticism not only among the Muslim community but also among other communities too.
According to the act, the non-Muslim refugees who had come to India before December 31st, 2014 from Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Pakistan will get Indian citizenship.
