Plea filed in SC seeks compensation for unorganised sector workers

Advocate R Subramanian has filed a plea in the Supreme Court seeking directions to the Central government to formulate a scheme ensuring compensation to those engaged in the unorganised sector for the loss of income due to the imposition of a nationwide lockdown to fight the coronavirus pandemic.

New Delhi: A plea has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking directions to the Central government to formulate a scheme ensuring compensation to those engaged in the unorganised sector for the loss of income due to the imposition of a nationwide lockdown to fight the coronavirus pandemic.

The plea filed by Advocate R Subramanian states that the government should implement the scheme in each State and Union Territory.

He also emphasises on a 100 percent compensation for all the States and Union Territories following the loss of revenue incurred during the lockdown period.
